Built on
the source of truth.
Our proprietary indexer monitors the blockchain and extracts transaction data for artists and artworks in our index. Each transaction is verified on-chain before being included.
Transactions are captured in their original currency — ETH, DAI, and others — and converted to USD at the historical rate on the date of the transaction. Every monetary figure on C{A}A is denominated in USD.
We do not use estimated, scraped, or marketplace-reported figures. What you see has been confirmed on the blockchain.
Terminology
A note on
the language.
Digital art has its own vocabulary. Here is what we mean when we use these terms on C{A}A.
Drop also: artwork release
A release of one or more artworks by an artist on a marketplace. A drop may be a single unique work or a collection of numbered editions — from one piece to tens of thousands. Each drop has its own sales history, collector base, and market record.
Token also: edition
A single, uniquely identified edition of an artwork. When an artist releases a collection of 500 prints, each individual print is a token — owned, bought, and sold independently, with its own complete provenance record.
Wallet also: collector address
The cryptographic address that holds and transfers artworks on the blockchain. A wallet is the closest equivalent to a collector's identity in this market — though one person may hold multiple wallets.
